Colonial Period First Generation 1750 | 1.0 Andrew Mock b.1750; d. circa 1812 ; m. circa 1775 Mary Ann Tanner (d/o Lodowick Tanner and Sarah, Johnson County, NC, brother to Asa Tanner who married Seelina Rogers) Sept 1791 - owned land on Reedy Creek near Wrens, Jefferson Co.,GA; 4 Jan 1796 Deed - 149 Acres Screven Co., GA. The Warranty Deed is dated Jan 4, 1796 and a plat was drawn showing the exact layout of property. The plat is on file in the office of Superior Court, Sylvania, Ga.4 May 1805 Land Transaction, Edgefield Co.,SC where Andrew Mock Sr. & “others” sold land on behalf of David Mock. Others mentioned were Andrew Jr., George, Rachel, Lodowick & Ann Mock Boykn & Philip & Sary Mock Howel from Screven Co.,GA.. Edgefield Co.,SC, Bk.26, pgs 195-197. . It further stated that they were from Screven County, GA. This transaction took place in May 1805.4 July 5, 1815 - Will of Andrew Mock. Jan 1821 - Court Records, Jacksonboro, GA - George Mock acting on behalf of estate of Andrew Mock & guardian for Charlotte Mock. (youngest dau. of Andrew) Land grant 1769 - 100 acres Craven Co., SC 1.1 Benjamin T. Mock
b. ca1780; d. 1813; m. Hester Wilder administratrix of Benjamins’
estate from Jan/Feb 1814 through Nov. 1817. Benjamin was co-executor to
Andrew’s will. 1.2 Rachel Mock b. 1783 1.3 George Mock b. ca 1784 Sylvania, Screven Co.,GA; d.Oct 1862; m.ca1806 Selah/Celia Boykin b.1789 GA, (d/o John Boykin Sr. & Sarah Tanner.) 1.4 Andrew Mock Jr. b. ca1792; d. 1835; 1820 Census, Screven Co. head of household. Apr 1816 - bought land for his son, John David Mock. No other children known at this time. 1.5 Ann Mock m. Lodewick Boyakin (Boykin) 1.6 Sary (Sarah) m. Philip Howell 1.7 Charlotte Mock b. abt. 1804; m. George H. Maner; co-executor for father’s will. From Danny R. Mock: "... The will of Andrew Mock, Sr. dated 7/5/1815 names his oldest son Benjiman and his daughter Charlotte as co-executors with Charlotte receiving the 149 acres that he had owned since 1/4/1796. This land acquisition is specifically mentioned in the will. all other assets were to be divided among "all my children". One interesting fact is that I have never run across anything that mentioned his wife with the exception of the land grant he received in Jefferson county. That grant still did not refer to her by name. However, the only male head of household members in the first surviving census of 1820 were George Mock and Andrew Mock, Jr. in Screven County. There were some transactions held at Jacksonboro, GA in Janury 1821 where George Mock was acting on behalf of the estate of Andrew Mock and as guardian for Charlotte Mock. It is likely since Benjiman Mock is not listed anywhere in the census for the State of GA in 1820, that he must have died." 4 | |

Laurel Grove Cemetery. From an essay by Richard H. Mock : One
of Lodowick E. Mock's sons robbed the steamboat warehouse near Poor
Robin circa 1870. The circumstances peculiar to George Andrew
Mock seem to indicated that he was the son. Ralph C. Mock
adroitly summarizes the result of the event, "The judge told him to get
out of town or go to the slammer." The felon chose the former
option and went to the Savannah area, perhaps Isle of Hope. Frank
and Eddie were probably born in their father's new home town.
There is no knowledge of any other children. The boys became
"River Rats". George died of tuberculosis July 14, 1886, and was
buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Savannah. George Andrew Mock During 1927 or 1928 when they was a drought upstate, the Savannah River shrank into shallows. Frank and Eddie, who had become skilled outdoorsmen, hunted the alligators that became easy prey for those that could afford the shotgun shells needed for clean kills and possessed the courage and skills to harvest these beasts. Many a hand or foot has been lost to a dead gator and many a mutilated gator has been tossed back into the river or otherwise disposed of after the victor was unable to properly skin his conquest. Frank came to own a home and a boat, the George Guion, at Isle of Hope. It was Frank's vacant home that the widowed Bradford J. Mock moved himself and his children into in 1926. The house was located next to to the Hucks' home place. 1.3.5.4 Edward T.Mock b. 1851; 1880 census has him living in Gardi community in Wayne Co.,GA 1.3.5.5 David Roland Mock b. 27 Aug 1854; d. 28 Jan 1924; m. 6 Jan 1887 Margaret Blackburn.
